Santa and Elves Bring Holiday Cheer with Hats and Stories for Pediatric Patients at Lutheran Children’s Hospital

Make-A-Wish recipient will also be present

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (Dec. 8, 2011) – During his whirlwind tour of the Summit City Thursday, and before his primetime appearance at Macy’s, Santa will make a special stop at 1 p.m. at Lutheran Children’s Hospital to spread holiday cheer. He and two elves, Nutmeg and Jingle Bell, will pass out Santa hats as they visit patients room by room. He will also speak with a recent Make-A-Wish recipient who will be going to Disney World next week. Then, Santa will read a story with the children able to assemble in the pediatric playroom. Others will watch from their rooms via a closed-circuit television broadcast.

Santa will make his entrance at the Lutheran Heart Pavilion on the I-69 side of the hospital and he will ascend to Lutheran Children’s Hospital through the tree house elevator.

Lutheran Children’s Hospital opened in 1999 as a result of several local pediatricians who envisioned bringing families throughout northeastern Indiana access to expert pediatric medical care that wouldn’t require a half-day’s drive to receive. Today, Lutheran Children’s Hospital teams with more than 75 pediatricians practicing in 27 areas of pediatric specialty in an environment filled with imagination and color. The award-winning design of the tree house elevator, specially decorated rooms, hallways and waiting areas invite children and their families to focus on something other than the often unpleasant purpose of their visit. Lutheran Children’s Hospital believes children are special people, not just small adults.
