Join the growing number of new moms who are opening a whole new chapter in their lives by choosing to have their babies at the Childbirth Suites at Lutheran Hospital. Supported by Lutheran Children's Hospital, the Childbirth Suites provide a comfortable and professional atmosphere where specially trained nurses are just a call away and are always ready to care for mom and baby with helping hands and loving hearts. This specialized care creates a balance of comfort, safety and warm hospitality for new moms, babies and families.
The Childbirth Suites offer spacious yet cozy rooms for comfort and personalized services. Each private room is warm and welcoming with the touches of home. Comfortable beds, a rocking chair and a large chair that converts to a bed are just a few of the amenities in each room. New parents can also enjoy other comforts, such as handheld shower heads, blow dryers, subdued lighting, room service menu choices and complimentary snacks.
Single-room maternity care means dad can stay in mom's private room with her during labor, delivery and recovery. The staff encourages keeping baby in the room as much as possible to help create stronger family bonds and to help new parents become more aware of baby's needs and feeding cues. But when it's time for Mom to rest, she can have peace of mind knowing baby is being cared for while she relaxes. Baby will be returned to her at her request from the nursery, which is just down the hall and is staffed by a registered nurse 24/7.
Mothers who require a cesarean birth or another special procedure never have to leave the unit since surgical suites and recovery areas are located within the Childbirth Suites.
Babies who arrive too early or with complications are cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit, which is located on the same floor, just steps away from the Childbirth Suites. The NICU is staffed by board-certified neonatologists, nurses and therapists who are dedicated to caring for babies with special needs.
In addition to these extras and the latest in obstetrical technologies, other special services include ongoing education, lactation consulting, breastfeeding and postpartum depression support groups, breast pump rentals, specialty retail services and an in-house portrait studio.
