Cancer Resource Center
How can the Cancer Resource Center help me?
Whether you have just received a diagnosis of cancer, are undergoing treatment or are at risk for developing cancer, the Center is designed to assist you. Our staff will answer your questions, explain technical information and help coordinate all aspects of your care. We can connect you with community support groups and medical providers, as needed. The Center is not a treatment facility. Our goal is to provide a support network, which may take many forms—as basic as coordinating a ride to a physician’s office or as personalized as having someone with the same illness share information and experiences about treatment and recovery.
Who staffs the Cancer Resource Center?
The Cancer Resource Center is under the direction of oncology nurses. These nurses work closely with your family doctor and an extensive network of oncologists and other specialists to individualize your care and treatment.
How can I access the services of the Cancer Resource Center?
Our Resource Center covers all types of cancer and our services are free and open to the public.
Ask your doctor for more information on how the Cancer Resource Center can help you, or you may contact the Center at Lutheran Hospital by calling (260) 435-7959.
Because of its comfortable, home-like environment, the Center is also an ideal location for cancer-related community organizations to hold meetings and support groups. The Center serves as a community resource, providing a lending library of books and videos as well as Internet access.
Why did Lutheran Hospital create a Cancer Resource Center?
Threading your way through the process of cancer diagnosis, treatment and recovery can be overwhelming and discouraging. At times during your treatment, you may feel frightened and exhausted as you cope with physical and emotional struggles. Lutheran Hospital created the Cancer Resource Center to provide support for those going through this process. We see it as a vital link between cancer patients and the services they’ll need.
