Mechanical Circulatory Support

Circulatory Support for Advanced Heart Failure Patients

When the heart is unable to sustain function due to advanced heart failure or end-stage heart failure, treatment options are available at Lutheran Heart Center. If surgery or medication management has failed for complex cardiovascular issues, the specialists at Lutheran Hospital are able to provide mechanical circulatory support to improve heart function and quality of life.

When heart disease has progressed to advanced or end stage, patients are many times confined to bed or fully dependent on IV heart medications and are unable to function with daily activities. Lutheran Heart Center is the only hospital in northeastern Indiana to offer mechanical circulatory support options for acute episodes, as well as long-term therapy.

While technology has advanced for these life-saving devices, more importantly, Lutheran Heart Center has the advanced training and clinical expertise to surgically implant them and carefully monitor patients over time for successful outcomes.
