Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is an indication of how much excess weight is present and how great the risk of weight-related health issues is. While the index is not perfect (athletes and persons with larger frames may fall outside the "accepted norms" yet be healthy), it is a reliable tool with which to assess overall health relating to weight.
